General Initiation
This is the introductory level into the Sacred Order of Akom. General
initiation opens the way for you to examine your spiritual goals, become
more disciplined with your spiritual practices. And to become acquainted
with the African concept of God, creation, ancestor reverence, the
Abosom and Nsamanfo.
Prerequisite: A sincere interest in personal spiritual development.
Okyeame (Spokesperson)
The Okyeame is the linguist for the chief of the shrine house, and the
Abosom.
Initiation into the position of Okyeame requires study of shrine customs
and protocols. The length of study depends upon the knowledge acquired
during general Initiation.
Prerequisite: General Initiation. Demonstrated qualities of commitment to
responsibilities associated with becoming an Okyeame.
Dinsini (Herbalist)
Initiation as Dinsini is a three year commitment, in addition to herbs the
Dinsini must study shrine culture and protocols.
Prerequisite: General Initiation. Commitment to studies, and demonstrated
desire to become a healer.
Osofo * Okomfo * Obosomfo
Initiation at this level is a life commitment to be a spiritual healer, leader
and advisor. The initial process is three years, followed by interval years
of elevation rites and Learning.
Prerequisite: General Initiation and selection process by the Abosom and
chief Okomfo and Osofo.
