The path crosses the river, the river crosses the path, who is the elder?

Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah of Larteh is the divine akofena that cut the  path of
Akom that crosses the river. The river of spiritual enlightenment and knowledge
flows over the path of Akom, who is the elder?

The River is from long ago
We give thanks and praises to Nyame for blessing the children of Akom  with the wonderful
soul of
Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah
The late High Priestess of the Nana Akonnedi Shrine of Larteh Ghana

Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah of Larteh

Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah was chosen by Nyame and the Abosom to
find and lead Africa’s children in America home again. . Nana worked for
over fifty years of her life devoted to the work of Nyame through the
Abosom and Nsamanfo.

Because of the wonderful healing and spiritual strength that Nana Oparebeah
possessed in her early years as a Nana Asuo Gyebi Okomfo, she became the
most powerful Chief Priestess of the renowned and greatly respected  Nok
Ware Fie, house of the Nana Akonnedi Shrine of Larteh...  Okomfohemma
Nana Oparebeah was well known throughout Ghana, America, Europe and
other parts of the world.

It is America that Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah was sent to by the
Abosom, to bring back the descendants of Ghana to their original way of
communication with Nyame, the Abosom and Nsamanfo.

Nana’s meeting with Omanhene Nana Yao Opare Dinizulu in the late sixties
was the beginning of The Sacred Order of Akom in America.

Nana Oparebeah’s spirit lives on with the continuation of Akom in Ghana
and America; Everyday African descendants are reawakening to the wonders
and beauty of the Sacred Akom. Nana was loved and equally feared by
many. Those that feared her knew she would not tolerate evil.
Those that loved her knew she was someone special who had touched their
lives not for a moment but forever.

Omanhene Nana Yoa Opare Dinizulu

In 1965 Nana Yao Opare Dinizulu was the divine link that the Abosom used
to bring the Sacred Order of Akom to America. The mission had already
been given to Nana Oparebeah, now the Abosom on the other side of the
water instructed Omanhene Nana Dinizulu through a spiritual reading that he
was a descendant of a royal family in Ghana. And instructed him to travel to
Ghana and seek out his lineage.   The divine plan of Nyame was at work.
Nana Dinizulu traveled to Ghana to verify this at the Nana Akonnedi Shrine.
This is where he met and befriended Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah. It was
at the Nana Akonnedi Shrine that the Abosom verified that Nana Dinizulu
was in fact a royal descendant of Ghana.

Omanhene Nana Dinizulu brought back with him from Ghana the first Nana
Asuo Gyebi , Nana Asi Ketewa and Nana Adade Kofi Shrines to America.
And the first Akom Festival for Nana Asuo Gyebi was held by Omanhene
Nana Dinizulu and his organization the Bosom Dzemawodzi.
Nana Dinizulu formalized the first Odwira in America and Puberty Rites
Ceremony that continues today.

He was loved by many and is affectionately referred to as the father of
Akom in America.

Ancestral Prayer

Great and powerful ancestors, oldest grandmother, oldest grandfather, ancient ones,
enlightened ones, protectors. We remember you, we give thanks to you for all things great and
all things small.

I call upon you today for help and guidance as I walk through life.
Speak to me softly so that my spirit may hear you and absorb your wisdom.
Powerful and loving ancestors lend your spirit to the continuation our people in a healthy and
safe way. Help our mothers and fathers, our sisters and brothers. Help our children who are
the future to grow strong, spiritually sound, and prosperous in all it;s forms.

I pray that in the ancestral realms you come  together and protect our people from continued
attacks of genocide, both from foreign and internal sources.
Help those who are suffering from sickness receive relief from their suffering, and healing
from their illness.

Forgive us in times of our ignorance or ungratefulness. Forgive us for our many mistakes, help
us to find the way through the power of our ancestors. To the glorious  past of our
achievements, the determination and hard work in the present, and a clear path for survival of
our children, works, and ideas in the future.

We give thanks
Okomfohemma Nana Oparebeah
