On Spiritual Communication

Spiritual communication is a soul language, whether it is singing drumming, dancing,
crying or yelling, It is all born from deep
within.  And we all have our special way of talking to Nyame,(God) our Nsamanfo
(ancestors )or Abosom (spiritual guardians.)

When you remove fear, distrust, and guilt, the brilliant light of your soul begins to
shine.
Communication becomes clearer, everything in life begins to change because your
ability to speak with Nyame has changed how you see things.  The deeper the
communication, the greater the wisdom, and this wisdom is the signature of Nyame's
touch upon your soul.

The desire to talk to Nyame is born out of both love, and need.  There is nothing greater
than to develop a deeper love for Nyame through your special way of communication.
This deep love I am speaking of can grow in various ways.

Devoting time daily in your thoughts wherever you may be. Taking a moment to say a
few words each day to Nyame is a great way to start.  You will begin to feel as each
day passes a presence come around you.  This presence removes you for a moment or
several moments from everything around you. You have entered into a special universe
inside of your self that has opened up to speak with Nyame. It is in this sacred place
that you will begin to feel emanations of love and clarity of sight coming to you. As
you regularly devote this time to communication with Nyame you will begin to know
happiness and peace. You will be able to center yourself in your quiet universe, even
under the most adverse of situations to find the wonderful  inner voice of Nyame.

Remember to share your deepest thoughts, ask questions, tell Nyame of your needs and
desire to grow spiritually. Remember that communication requires more than your
thoughts or needs. It is important to learn how to be silent so as to hear the divine
voice of enlightenment, courage, friendship, love, warning and protection that is the
great Nyame.

You may choose to set up a prayer altar where you spend this precious time.  On your
altar you may place items that help to create visual peace and feelings of a safe place.
It is empowering to use rituals such as spiritual cleansing, lighting of candles, pleasant
incense, or listening to instrumental music that helps  you to relax.  These rituals can
assist your travel to the realm that allows you to open up and communicate with
Nyame. When you spend the time using your rituals to prepare yourself to
communicate with the spirit world, you embody a strong sense of reverence with what
you are about to do and this enhances your ability to speak truthfully and clearly. It is
a wonderful way to communicate when you take the opportunity to sit and quiet your
spirit.

Sitting at your altar is also a good time to communicate with your ancestors, call them
by name, ask for their help in your life.  Pray for the elevation of your ancestors spirits,
so that as they travel into higher and higher spirit realms, the lineage of your family
becomes raised up.  Our ancestors often hear our prayers, or conversations with them,
and petition Nyame and elevated spirits on our behalf.   Remembering our ancestors,
and continuing to communicate with them helps us to know that they have not left us
and we can still talk to them and they to us.

The experience of communing with Nyame is felt very deeply during the sacred dance of
Akom.  The dance allows you to release and give up all fears and apprehensions and to
be free to talk with Nyame through the abosom. The abosom are Nyame's children in
the spirit world. They enable  us to feel the power and presence of Nyame in the
physical world by manifesting through the spirits of the rivers, the wind, fire, air, and
earth. The Abosom join with the Okomfo and embody an aspect of Nyame on the
Okomfo. On the Okomfo the abosom hear your request, your joy, your pain, and carry
your thoughts, your needs, to the spiritual realm that can best provide the answer to
your prayer. Often the Abosom will bring you your answer right then and there. They
may also heal you of sickness during the Akom. It is Nyame showing omnipotence,
that the great source of Nyame is  present through the Abosom and can manifest in
many forms.

Nyame, the abosom and nsamanfo are often bringing us answers to our prayers. We are
the ones that must learn to see the spirit in all things. Then we will not miss the
answer to our communication with the divine. You may have a conversation with
Nyame and Nyame has chosen a dirty beggar on the street to bring you your answer or
confirmation of your conversation.  Your answer may be in the signs of the animals
that come to you during that time. Or through the gentle smile or words of a child. We
never really know how the spirit will choose to answer our prayers or confirm that we
have been heard.  We must walk with faith and love that is developed through
devoting time each day to say a few words or to give thanks. You will then truly see
and hear Nyame in all things.
